Blues Dominate Blackhawks: Kyrou Leads Victory

Jordan Kyrou notched a pair of goals, while Robert Thomas added a goal and an assist to propel the St. Louis Blues to a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

Zack Bolduc also contributed a goal and an assist, with Torey Krug finding the back of the net as well. Brayden Schenn chipped in with two assists for St. Louis, as Joel Hofer made 18 saves to secure the win. The Blues now boast an impressive 8-1-1 record in their last 10 home games against the Blackhawks.

Blues coach Drew Bannister commended his team’s strong start, highlighting their urgency and effectiveness in breaking the game open early on.

St. Louis’s win keeps their playoff hopes alive, as they now sit just three points behind the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, with three games remaining in the regular season compared to the Golden Knights’ four.

Despite Philipp Mrazek being pulled after allowing three goals on three shots within the first 4:37, the Blackhawks managed to find the back of the net twice through Philipp Kurashev and Landon Slaggert. Arvid Soderblom came on in relief and stopped 21 shots for Chicago.

The Blues wasted no time in asserting their dominance, scoring four goals in a span of just 4:55 early in the first period. Jordan Kyrou led the charge with two quick goals, showcasing his impressive recent form with a four-game point streak and 15 points in his last 10 games.

Torey Krug also made an impact, scoring to end Mrazek’s night early and extending the Blues’ lead to 3-0. Zack Bolduc added to Chicago’s woes by notching his fourth goal of the season shortly after Soderblum took over in goal for the Blackhawks.

St. Louis controlled the game from the start, outshooting Chicago 9-1 in the first period and maintaining their dominance throughout the match.

The Blackhawks managed to pull one back in the second period through Philipp Kurashev, but Robert Thomas’s goal in the third period restored the Blues’ comfortable lead.

Despite Landon Slaggert scoring his first career goal late in the third period for Chicago, the game was already out of reach for the Blackhawks.

Torey Krug’s departure from the game due to an undisclosed injury left some uncertainty for the Blues, with Coach Bannister providing no immediate update on his condition following the game.
